117705 - Adult Rowing

Get ready to work your whole body and then hit the foam rollers! This class pairs moderate to high-intensity rowing with a variety of strength training exercises, followed by foam rolling to release muscle tightness. Targeting every major muscle group, the class is designed to increase your cardiovascular fitness, build strength and prevent injuries with deep tissue rolling (self-myofascial release). Open to all levels of fitness; no rowing or rolling experience necessary. Beginners welcome! Bring a mat and water bottle. We'll supply the foam rollers but you're welcome to bring your own.

117708 - Yoga

This class is for all levels where, while flowing, we could either slow down or build the stamina up a notch with more challenging options. Options for extra challenges or to tone it down! Class may be held outside if weather permits.

117709 - Pilates

This all-level practice adds the benefits of yoga to Pilates mat work. Building core strength with classic Pilates sequences, short yoga moments are incorporated to add flexibility and mobility. Added challenges are shared for those who want a more challenging workout. Class may be held outside if weather permits.

117711 - Zumba

Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program. Zumba participants achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got Zumba!

This class is held outdoors at the Takiff Center. There are no drop-ins allowed. Please report to the baseball field/tent located behind the Takiff Center.

118510 - Tennis - Youth

Ages 3-4
Learn how to hold a racket, hand-eye coordination, balance, and the beginning of stroke development in a fun environment!

Ages 4-5
Take your basic knowledge of tennis and expand it! Learn the beginning of stroke development, tracking the ball, and hitting.

Ages 5-6
Our main focus is learning primary skill, such as movement, balance, hand-eye coordination. Individual or team games accompany fun activities to help develop basic swing techniques and tactics.

Ages 7-8
Fine-tune your tennis skills in this advanced class. You will learn proper techniques of swings and serves, as well as basic tactics, regular scoring systems, and match play.

Ages 9-10
Now you know the primary skills, let’s further stroke development. Learn skills to be able to hit the ball to different areas of the court, as well as how to serve and volley. This class will also begin match play.

Ages 11-14
Prepare yourself to play competitive tennis! We will work on developing strokes, spin, and power. Participants will learn through match play and drills.

Beginner
Student are introduced to the game of tennis and receive basic instruction of forehand, backhand, serve, volley, rules, scoring, and proper tennis etiquette.

Advanced Beginner
For students who have progressed past the beginner program, this class emphasizes stroke refinement and match play.

Drill & Play
45-minute drills start each session. The emphasis is on organized match play with the intent of putting into effect what has been mastered from previous practice. Varied competitions with tips from the pros strengthen game skills. The level of play is advanced, so acceptance into the group play situation is set up at the teaching pro's discretion.

Class will start weather permitting. If the start is delayed, you will be notified.

119716 - Ceramics Adult - Advanced

Takiff Center/Virtual
Instructor: Natalie Steinmetz
This course is designed for our continuing students with a minimum of two years of experience. This hybrid class allows students the choice of working in the studio or from home for the session. The instructor will teach from the studio while broadcasting the demonstrations live on Zoom. Students working from home will have materials and tools provided and have their work fired using a no-contact pickup and drop off system. Students will build on their current skills and be encouraged to create more complex forms and develop a personal style. Individual instruction allows students to work on custom projects of their choice.

In this introductory course, students will draw the human form from live models. Each class will include a gesture drawing and a longer pose. This class is great for beginning students or for those who would like to draw or paint a live model. Price includes model fee.

Develop strong drawing skills for botanical art. In this class, students will draw live plants and from photographs. In addition, they will learn how to enhance illustrations with colored pencils, pen, ink, and watercolor.
